DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES [FIELD CENTRE SUPERVISOR]

1)  Supervising of the Field Studies Centre and responsible for the well being of the Centre in general including staff members under his care and all visitors to the Centre.

2)  Responsible for planning and supervising the day to day duties of all member staff under his care.

3)  Ensuring that the infrastructure (buildings, walkways, etc) and other facilities (electrical generator, water pump, etc) of the Centre are always in good (working) condition.

4)  Ensuring that the supplies for the Centre such as fuel, gas, groceries, etc are sufficient and always available on site.

5)  Responsible for good maintenance of field facilities such as forest trails, forest plots, overnight huts, etc.

6)  Responsible for meeting the general needs of scientists for their research activities both in the laboratory and field.

7)  Responsible for carrying out an annual appraisal of KBFSC staff under his care.

3) Monitoring routine laboratory activities and ensuring Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and method validation is applied throughout the laboratory activities and updating and inventories and auditing laboratory stock from time to time.

2)  Responsible in the national biodiversity resources management strategy of the Forestry Department,

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

a)  Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Ecology/ Wildlife Management / Biological Science or other
related field recognised by the Government of Brunei Darussalam.

Higher qualification in the above of related field is an advantage.

b)  Excellent field skills with minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in wildlife species and terrestrial / aquatic habitat or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Specialised experience with wildlife species and habitat.  (Both species taxonomy and habitat ecology) is essential.

c)  Knowledge and specialized experience in the following technical areas are essential:-

i)      Wildlife species identification and research / survey methodologies terrestrial vegetation community and habitat classification and inventory

ii)       Wildlife species-habitat ecology and related monitoring and evaluation, and

iii)       Biological resources-related data synthesis and interpretations and technical reports

d)  Strong problem solving, technical writing, analytical (including quantitative sampling and biostatistical analysis) and computer software skills are required and any related statistic programmes;

e)    Ability to navigate using GPS and GIS application.

·         Field task management.

2)   Responsible in the wildlife conservation strategy in the Forestry Department of Brunei Darussalam in

1)   Perform general radiography examinations.

2)   Perform special radiological procedures such as CT Scans and Mammography to required standards of
quality.

3)   Assist Radiologist in specialised examinations such as Contrast Studies and Interventional
Procedures.

4)    Perform ward radiography and operating theatre radiography using mobile units and C-Arm imaging.

5)    Carry out radiation regulations and recommendations, local rules and radiation guidelines.

6)    Maintain a high professional standard at all times.

7)   Prepare workload statistics and monthly stock requirements to assign areas and/or other duties as assigned by the Senior Radiographer.

8)    Report any equipment fault to Seniors/ person-in-charge.

9)   Work in assigned radiology units such as at Accident and Emergency department and peripheral clinics.

10) Work on-calls outside normal office hours and public holidays, including on-calls for CT Scans, Angiography and other specialised examinations.
